Evidence of Succeeding In Crypto With Kadeem ClarkešŸŒ±

Ever wondered the importance of EQ & working smart not hard?

The R Roundup Presents: Evidence of Succeeding In Crypto With Kadeem ClarkešŸŒ±

For our faithful community, the return of this series is well-awaited & we are proud to announce that we are returning with a BANGER!

We have been working tirelessly to scale up and improve all of our products, and slowly but surely, we can bring high-level minds to share their secrets to success.

Today's guest is a great colleague of mine and someone with a track record for always finding a way to excel in his research, writing, building, and even ventures.

Russian DeFi: Well, letā€™s get started then, Kadeem. Letā€™s introduce our audience to who you are and what you get up to!

Kadeem Clarke: I am a builder and investor focused on democratizing access to global resources with Web 3 & Education. Passionate about research, venture capital, cars, and food.

In past lives:

- Facilitated over $40MM in investment into alternative assets

- Provided growth consulting to 25 startups and small businesses

- Series 7 and Series 63 licensed

- Studied/worked in Shanghai and became intermediate in Mandarin Chinese

I accidentally got into crypto in college when buying fake ids with friends, then started trading it the following year and, as a result, researched a few of the projects I was trading.

I interned for a few projects in college to get experience..ended up taking a full-time job at Merrill Lynch in SF.

Shortly after my move to SF, I met up with Yubo (he interned for my startup in college and dropped out to move to SF to join a fund where he became the crypto expert and then launched his own $12M crypto fund that grew to $60M) to chat and offered to intern at his fund on the side.

Four months later, I quit Merrill and joined 8 Decimal Capital as Investment Manager.

I am currently Head of Labs at Momentum 6. In my role, Iā€™ve founded M6 Labs and The Crypto Illuminati, two research publications.

Russian DeFi: We are not strangers to your work at Momentum 6 through our partnership; however, can you explain your role as Head Of Labs?

Kadeem Clarke: I originally joined Momentum 6 with a broad directive to launch an incubator and research side to grow the brand reputation of Momentum 6. As time passed, I realized that our resources would be best used if we solely focused on research to expand our presence. After adjusting our focus, I became interested in a research community, so we launched The Crypto Illuminati in partnership with Shiv Sakhuja and quickly expanded our audience.

After that, I realized that depending on an audience on social platforms wouldnā€™t create long-term value. We needed to make a publication that collects emails, so we launched the M6 Labs and The Crypto Illuminati newsletters.

I act as the chief editor for both newsletters (directing the content map), and I also run Momentum 6ā€™s research team, which is building The Crypto Illuminati and M6 Labs along with a soon-to-be-released research/news platformšŸ‘€

Russian DeFi: Writing for Illuminati, I know the deep effort that goes into creating the high-level content we do, but I know you take it one step further.

Writing is tipped as one of the skills that benefit the industry in transferring crypto knowledge; how has writing assisted your understanding of the space?

Kadeem Clarke: Writing has forced me to stay up to date with the latest industry narratives and dive deeper into the tech stack and other intricacies of projects.

By reviewing all content from our publications, I typically have a solid grasp of whatā€™s going on in the industry.

Russian DeFi: Following on about the broader crypto market, 2022 was certainly a year to bank and learn from. Going into the new year, are any narratives spiking your interest?

Kadeem Clarke: Looking forward to seeing more growth of web 2.5 as Polygon is helping more and more web 2 companies offer web 3 products

Watching what happens with defi next year, the space will be forced to build platforms that have intuitive UI/UXs a.long with sustainable tokenomics

Russian DeFi: One thing Iā€™ve admired about your work in the space is your ability to manage your hands in many buckets, such as your featured podcasts, newsletters etc. How do you balance the plate?

Kadeem Clarke: Working out consistently, putting EVERYTHING on my to-do list, repeatedly checking my to-do list to make sure I donā€™t miss anything, and of course, I have a great team that makes everything possible

Russian DeFi: Recently, you started The Brain. Talk to me about that.

Kadeem Clarke: The Brain is a free personal development newsletter I started due to my deep interest in psychology (I would probably be a psychiatrist if I didnā€™t go into finance).

The Brain will help you live smarter, not harder ā€” leverage emotional intelligence, love, spirituality, and personal finance to achieve optimal personal growth and success.

Russian DeFi: Why do you think itā€™s essential to provide evergreen value away from the markets that are cross applicable?

Kadeem Clarke: I think itā€™s always important to diversify your knowledge, especially when it comes to learning fundamental concepts.

In this example, psychology significantly .impacts market dynamics and how we perform as traders and work with people as builders, so the additional knowledge benefits us on many levels.

Russian DeFi: I have read a few of your articles on The Brain & it has already assisted me in aligning the proper mental framework.

How has leveraging emotional intelligence helped you?

Kadeem Clarke: As Iā€™m on the road to becoming the dream version of myself, emotional intelligence has allowed me to become a more efficient and healthier person, which fuels my success.

Also, I use EQ in my daily life at work to manage a team and navigate dealing with co-workers.

With great EQ, so much more is possible in life, and Iā€™ve achieved a lot as Iā€™ve improved my emotional intelligence.

Russian DeFi: Now, we couldnā€™t do a collaborative article with you without mentioning cars. I am interested to know, whatā€™s your favorite car?

Kadeem Clarke: Thatā€™s hard to say but probably the Mercedes G Wagon. Itā€™s a classic design created for the Shah of Iran in the 1970s but has turned into a luxury SUV with a timeless design, unique shape and exhaust sound.

Russian DeFi: This has been a great insight & honestly, I am honoured to bring this article over to our audience here at The R Roundup, so before we end, share where we can find more of your work!

Kadeem Clarke: Follow me on Twitter for further updates about my projects. There are lots of exciting things happening in 2023!
