RRUPDATES📍: ENS Go(es)Daddy 👨

GoDaddy and Ethereum Name Service (ENS) have joined forces, enabling users to seamlessly connect their internet domain names with their ENS addresses at no cost.

Despite a slowdown in mainstream companies adopting Web3 during the bear market, this collaboration with GoDaddy, the largest internet domain registry, suggests a renewed interest in bridging blockchain and traditional technologies.

In this partnership, users can link their domain names to ENS addresses, establishing a direct connection between their online identity and crypto wallets. For instance, Nick Johnson, the founder of ENS, illustrated that someone like Beyonce could easily set up a wallet by entering her address on the GoDaddy page, making her domain, say, Beyonce.xyz, function as her wallet identifier.

While Web3 integration faced setbacks during the market downturn, this collaboration hints at the potential for broader blockchain adoption beyond Ethereum. The long-term goal is to expand this integration to include various blockchain networks, allowing users to set addresses for different chains and create Web3 profiles using traditional domain extensions like .xyz or .com.

The announcement comes amid an ongoing legal dispute between ENS and GoDaddy concerning the sale of the ENS domain "eth.link." Despite the disagreement, both parties express a willingness to collaborate on other fronts, emphasizing the importance of building systems that complement existing structures rather than reinventing everything from scratch.

Nick Johnson emphasized the value of acknowledging and working with legacy systems, stating:

"I think naming and Web3 work better when we don't try to pretend that legacy systems don't exist but instead build on top of them." "I think naming and Web3 work better when we don't try to pretend that legacy systems don't exist but instead build on top of them."

The eth.link case remains open in court, and Johnson remains optimistic about the potential for collaboration despite existing disputes.
